About

Behind every amazing player experience is the hard work of testers and QA specialists who make sure the game runs flawlessly. It's time for the second meeting of the new Digital Dragons Academy season - we meet online at Zoom on 28 October 2023.

Surely you've heard at some point that if you play games, you could become a tester. A lot of people say this because they have adopted the stereotypical thinking that QA testing is simply about playing games, and that the position is just the first step on the staircase to a job in the industry. Nothing could be further from the truth!

The job is an important link in gamedev, and companies need specialists at different levels of experience. After all, various glitches and bugs can spoil the perception of even a well-designed production. Therefore, the importance of the QA process and the eye of a good tester cannot be overestimated.

If you feel that this is the position for you and would like to learn the ABCs of a tester, which will make your first steps in the industry easier, sign up for a class! During the meeting, you will learn the ins and outs of being a tester, how to become one, and you can ask any questions you want to our mentors.

More than a clicks - Quality Assurance in games production

  • #DDA23/24

QA is often seen as a fast track into the games industry and a ‘springboard’ into other specialisations. It is not uncommon for it to be treated merely as ‘playing the game’ and looking for bugs in it. And yet QA can be so much more – provided you change the perspective of both the testers themselves and the rest of the team. During the development of Frostpunk at 11 bit studios, the role of QA evolved from simply testing finished functionality to actively participating in the creation of the game.

Fist, throw, block - about testing brawlers

  • #DDA23/24

Games such as Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter are not just about pressing buttons quickly. They are, above all, complex combat systems that require knowledge and imagination from the QA team. Let’s see what can be tested in them and how.
